The Rockstar

So why do we call it "The Rockstar"? You might think it's because we feel like after you've gotten it you'll feel like a rock star. That's part of it. The first thought though when we designed it was that we like to think that if we had been around in 1973, Led Zeppelin had two straight sold-out shows at the Hirsch, and Jimmy Page was going to miss the second because he really tied one on after the first, we could have gotten him back on stage for the second show with this IV hangover cure.

It's not just for hangovers, it's for LOTS of things, but it is the ultimate weapon in the war on hangovers.

When we say "it's everything we've got", that's pretty close to the truth.

We start off with a liter of Ringer's Lactate to get rid of the dehydration. Ringer's also includes potassium, which your body has burned off and is subject to malabsorption. Alcohol affects your ability to process calcium as well, and that's in Ringer's also.

In addition to the electrolytes in the Ringer's, we put a ton of quality add-ons.

The first is magnesium. Mag is a natural muscle relaxant. It's great for that fluttery heart beat, the tension in your neck, and any muscle spasms you may be having. There's a large dose of folic acid, and an equally large dose of thiamine. Both are B vitamins good for energy, as well as for replacing the things your body lacks any time you overdrink.

The multi-vitamin in the "ultimate hangover IV" (Infuvite) is the STRONGEST WE CAN BUY. It contains:

Vitamin A

Vitamin B1

Vitamin B2

Vitamin B6

Vitamin B9

Vitamin B12

Vitamin C

Vitamin D

Vitamin E

Vitamin K1

Biotin

Dexpanathol

Niacinamide

and Pyroxidone.

For your other symptoms we include Ketorolac (the generic form of Toradol), which is a powerful non-narcotic NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) for your headache, and Ondansetron (generic Zofran) for your nausea. Many people ask "why not phenergan". The problem with phenergan is that is causes drowsiness, and you're probably driving when you leave, and if you miss a vein it can cause tissue necrosis. It's just not nearly as safe as Zofran.

To cap it off, we put you on 2LPM of medical oxygen for 30 minutes. You may think you're breathing fine, but that's not the issue. We're giving it to you because it's a vasodilator which improves blood flow in your brain and reduces the headache. It also helps break down lactic acid, which causes muscle tension and pain in your legs, shoulders, and neck. A lot of people say "I don't need it." Some don't like the cannula. What are you nuts? USE THE OXYGEN!

Usually we say that "if this doesn't work, you need to quit going out." That's not really a joke. There's just not anything else we can think of to put in an IV that will perk you up so if this doesn't work, whatever you did that brought you in is probably something you should do less.
