Shreveport Things We Love

Scroll down for Tyler

Cool Bars

Noble Savage Tavern - This is the kind of place you'd be every day if you lived in New York and it was on the corner. As much a community as a bar. Sick beer selection and great food.

Strange Brew - If you don't like live music, craft beer, big open bay doors, pool tables, trivia or karaoke, well this probably isn't the place for you. Of course, if you can't find one thing you like from that list you probably aren't on this page looking at our favorite bars.

Round Bar - They do more than beer, but if you're one of those folks who wants a milk stout, low hop, high alcohol, funky glass, Scooby Dooby Brau from Lichtenstein, on tap, served at exactly 32.5 degrees, this is the only place in town you're going to find it. They have like 60 different kinds on tap and just as many more in bottles.

Sandbar - Not the oldest crowd in town, but definitely the most excited. Gets VERY hopping. There are a zillion things to do, from beer pong and video games, to dancing at The Vault and really good pizza. The other thing is, you'll be getting up to go to work before  Sandbar closes.

Things to do

Mudbugs Hockey - So, you're a football fan, you're a baseball fan, you're a basketball fan, and you think hockey is for Yankees. Go watch these guys fly up and down the ice, beating the crud out of each other and flicking that puck around and you'll be hooked. These people put on a GREAT show and half the entertainment isn't even the game. True story. A BLAST.

SciPort - You just thought "SciPort's for kids".  Whatever. SciPort is cool. Take your kid so you don't look like a nutjob, and then land the space shuttle a few times and make that thing where you drop an egg from the second story and check to see if it cracked. We did it and our egg survived. There's your challenge. Seriously though there is a ton of cool stuff at SciPort, in addition to that IMAX movie place, which is fantastic.

On Cloud Wine - We aren't saying "don't go to Napa when it's all right here," but this place is fun. Cool patio and the wine is better than you think it's going to be. A happening little joint, especially on the weekend when the weather is good. Take a date and you'll be a hero for showing them the secret cool spot, and they'll think you're cultured.

Restaurants

We Olive & Wine Bar - If you aren't going to We Olive, we don't know what you're doing with your life. That's all we need to say. PLEASE try We Olive.

Glenwood Tea Room - This is the way it is done. Husband and wife team who really love it. You have to make reservations for tea time so you know it's amazing.

Superior's Steak House - Wow. Insane steaks, fabulous sides, and a wine list Robert Parker would love. Birthday, Valentine's Day, every day if you can afford it.

Ki Mexico - Probably the trendiest restaurant in town. One of those places you drop in conversation with someone totally hip, like "we were at Ki the other day...", so you'll look cooler than you are. Fantastic tacos. Fair warning: don't order a margarita. No such thing. You won't mind though.

Marilynn's Place - If you're from out of the area and you're looking for mudbugs (crawfish) and authentic Cajun food, this is it. If you're from around here, one word: BRUNCH. Going to brunch at Marilynn's instantly puts you in the "Cool Kids Club".

SB Magazine -  If there's something happening in town, some place trendy, someone you need to know, or some kind of killer charity event that's about to happen, you'll read about it in SB Magazine. It may be mandatory.

Shreveport Times - STOP! You're going "really, the paper?" Yeah, really, the paper. Papers aren't like they used to be though. This one has all sorts of cool stuff and music info, and restaurant info, and they tell you about every festival and ... if it's going on around here, it's in this paper and you really just have to read it every day.

Loving This Life - Really cool. No politics, no drama, just a blog about cool events, bars, restaurants, and stuff in Shreveport. The woman who writes this blog loves the area and does a LOT of cool stuff. If you'll read this blog and do all the stuff she says is cool, your social life will rock.

Radio / TV

98 Rocks - Classic rock, and number one in the market since before compact discs were created.

K94.5 - Top 40 station that everybody who doesn't want to hear Led Zeppelin, like my daughter, listens to 24/7.

KSLA - Channel 12. Pretty much what everybody in the area watches for the news.

Health Products

We don't make anything off these products, and we haven't scientifically investigated any of them, but our patients CONSTANTLY ask us about them so we felt like we need to include them for you and to cut down the calls.

Keto Diet

CBD Oil

Fierce Workout

Keto Diet - At least three times a week people ask us about some kind of Keto IV and we don't even know what that means. You know who does? These people. A relative who's super into it and knows everything there is to know about it. Click the pic, or here to check it out, or call them at (469) 323-7738.

Whoever "they" is, they say this stuff calms you down, helps you sleep, focuses you, all sorts of stuff. We don't know, but the people who are really into it swear by it, and we get asked about it all the time. We do know this person though, and she's good people so if you are into it, she's our pick.

Are you ready to kick your own ass, and like it? This is the hottest fitness movement, not trend, movement, in ... everywhere, and they're in Shreveport just waiting for you.

Check them out HERE.

Looking good Lewis. Feeling good Todd.

The Netflix of Doctors

alinehealth-logo.png

No kidding. You pay a subscription fee, and you go when you want, call when you want, text when you want, and have A doctor. Have insurance? Great, but can you text your doctor or go see them tomorrow? Doubtful. Don't have insurance? Now you don't need it. It costs about half your cable bill. Check Dr. Mandy Crow out at

Serious Beauty

mirandas stuff.png

We don't know if there's such a thing as "medical grade skin care products", but if there is, these are it. All loaded up with vitamins and such. Seems like mostly nurses using it and selling it so something about this Bellame must be A+ good. Check it out at Bellame.com or call Miranda (yes, our Miranda) at 318.347.8350

Beyond cool. COLD.

chill and heal.jpg

-200 degrees Fahrenheit? That's a start. This is cryotherapy the way the pro athletes (NFL, NBA, etc.) do it. Great for all manner of ailments. Larry and Jen West  have been in the medical field for years and when they did this and researched it, they just went ahead and opened one. Check it out at https://www.chillandheal.com

A Little Help

FixxMedicalSpa-Shreveport-LA.jpeg

Sometimes you just want this done or that done, and makeup or cleanser or over the counter products just won't do. Maybe you really need an aesthetician or a practitioner. Well, there's nowhere better to go than Fixx Medical Spa, whether you're looking for micro-needling or Botox, or skin rejuvenation. These are THE pros.

Not JUST Water

droplet.jpg

We're always telling you to drink more water. Drink water, drink water, drink water. Now we're telling you to drink THIS water. We don't own it or sell it or have anything to do with it, but we trust the people who do. Check out this super water from Dr. Jack at http://www.ILoveGreatWater.com

Real Doctor - Real Good

Dr. Karen is the person to see if you're "sick and tired of being sick and tired". That's her slogan. Here's the deal, if you can find a better person than Dr. Karen, or just someone her age who is as healthy as she is, you're looking damned hard. We whole-heartedly recommend her if you want to live a healthier life.

Our Tyler Favorites

Cool Bars

True Vine Brewing Company is pretty much all things cool in the world, rolled up into one spot. Really great craft beers, shockingly good pizza, great atmosphere, cool stage area, and good live music all in one spot. Do visit. You'll see us there frequently.

Rose City Draft House has something like eleventy billion beers on tap, outdoor seating, big TVs, bar games, hosts all sorts of fantasy football league deals and on and on. Plus it's close to our office so we dig it. If there isn't a beer there on tap that you like, you just plain don't like beer.

Stuff To Do

Everybody knows about the classics around here.

We've ALL been to the Caldwell Zoo, which is one of the best half dozen or so in Texas.

Tyler is called the Rose City for a reason and the Rose Festival, Rose Parade, and Rose Gardens are all institutions.

You've probably even been to Tyler State Park.

BUT, have you been to these places?

The Goodman-LeGrand House. Wow. Antique MADNESS.

Tiger Creek Wildlife Reserve. Equal parts cool and scary!

Discovery Science Place is a great place to take the kids, or... not. It's got a lot of little "what?!?!" moments.

Great Food

Where should I go in Tyler for a special dinner? The Grove. Where should I go for brunch? The Grove. Where should I go for an upscale bar experience? The Grove. Where should I go for a cool patio and live music? The Grove. Where should you go in Tyler? The Grove. We hope all that was clear enough.

Stanley's Famous Pit BBQ. It boils down to this: Dave Grohl made a special trip to eat there, and that's really all you need to know. Bonus points if you go on a night that Big Funky Cloud is playing live.

Some people only think of Kiepersol as a winery. Some think of it only as a restaurant. Some know it for its distillery. Lots of folks consider it a bed and breakfast. Whatever you think it is, it's a cool way to spend some time, the wine is better than you'll expect, and the restaurant and bar are both great. You owe it to yourself to spend some time at Kiepersol.

Other Tyler Healthcare Providers

MidSouthTransitions_Logo_Final (002).web

Life gets in the way of living. Sometimes you have a surgery. Sometimes you get sick. Sometimes you just fall over and injure the heck out of yourself. Looking for someone to help you get back into life, the fight, or the game? That's what MidSouth Transition Medical Group does. Whether you're getting out of a hospital or a nursing home or just out of bed, they can get you where you want to be.

renew you.jpg

ReNew You Cryotherapy- This might sound crazy, but getting into an upright coffin filled with freezing nitrogen gas is actually good for you according to studies. We didn't see that coming either, but there's a reason NFL teams buy these units for their rehab areas. Apparently it's good for arthritis and muscle pain and lots of other stuff, and these folks at ReNew You have the program down to a science.

etapa logo.jpg

While this isn't specifically a "healthcare provider", they're key. Do you know what Activities Directors are? They're the people who organize games, social outings, and good times for your loved ones who are in facilities. They're KEY to quality of life for older folks, and they're always looking for help and volunteers. The East Texas Activities Professionals Association makes life around here better. Click and see if you can help.

ASK LISA

How old are your parents? How about your grandparents? Do you think about where they're going to live, how they're going to be cared for, and whether or not they'll be safe and happy? Of course you do. We all do. Lisa Lewis owns AskLisa and she can help you navigate the options. It's a hell of a lot better than relying on letting someone who doesn't know your family pick a place based on who brought lunch yesterday. Head to AskLisaLewis.com for peace of mind.

tyler wellcare logo.png

We get a lot of "do you have a serious weight loss program?" No, but Tyler WELLcare does. "Do you have a pain relief program that goes beyond NSAIDs?" No, but Tyler WELLcare does. "Do you do bioidentical hormone replacement?" No, but Tyler WELLcare does. So if it's chronic and serious... Tyler WELLcare.
